This course, from 11am – 1pm each Monday, involves one hour of Language, run by tutor
Kay Craig, followed by one hour of Literature, run by tutor Laurie Galimany, with a short
break for morning tea between sessions.
The Language component studies the many facets of English language – its usage and
etymology and how it changes over time. We look at interesting or new words that class
members bring along; read about current trends or discoveries in language and do quizzes
about obscure, amusing and entertaining aspects of English Language.
The literature component of the course, hosted by Laurie Galimany, spans centuries of
literature from early times to present day and involves the reading of a particular book, short
story, or play then discussing and re reading sections aloud in class.
This is a course for anyone who loves our language and our literary heritage.
Tutors: Kay Craig and Laurie Galimany.
